Coaching vs. Therapy

Therapy is designed to help people resolve relational issues, solve personal problems, repair damaged relationships, and heal emotional wounds. Therapy tends to focus on past pain, problems, healing, and deficits.

Coaching tends to focus on building strengths for the future. Coaching involves building on personal strengths, strengthening relational bonds, envisioning a great family life, and working to develop great relational skills, patterns, and traditions to make that envisioned future real.

I do not do therapy. It may be that some men or couples may need to see a therapist before beginning the coaching process. It is important to be emotionally well before beginning the challenging process of family life coaching.
